Charter Township of Clinton Department of Public Services Park Maintenance Personnel Permanent part-time Park Maintenance Personnel position, $16.65 - $20.37 hourly (32 hours per week) includes benefits package. Successful completion of Civil Service Examination(s) is required and applicants must meet all requirements set forth in the Employees Civil Service Ordinance, as well as possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and a good driving record. Pre-employment background investigation and substance abuse testing is required.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Services, Assistant Superintendent of Public Works and/or Foreman, performs custodial, general maintenance and patron support work within Township parks and open space facilities; patrols parks and facilities, and performs related work as required. This position is primarily stationed at George George Park.

Typical duties would include, but not be limited to, maintenance and custodial duties in park structures, restrooms and grounds and patrolling parks and promoting awareness of park rules and regulations, monitoring seasonal functions such as sled hill, and chalking playing fields. Performs routine custodial and maintenance duties, monitors safety conditions, secures and accounts for equipment, opens and closes parks. Must be able to work days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Applicant must possess the ability and/or skills to do the following: operate a variety of vehicles and equipment, safely lift and carry items up to 50 pounds, understand and follow complex oral and written instructions, work independently, and be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays or as needed for special events and in adverse weather conditions. Also applicants should be able to perform tasks with minimum supervision and have the ability to work effectively alone or as a member of a team.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must have a valid Michigan driver’s license and good driving record and maintain both while employed in this position. Successful completion of Civil Service Examination is required and applicants must meet all requirements set forth in the Employees Civil Service Ordinance.
