Class B CDL Driver

Position Summary
To transport and deliver products to customers by applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and roads in the area. The truck driver will be responsible for driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads to shipping papers, maintaining record of duty status according to state and federal regulations, and performing pre-trip and post trip inspections.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Inspect truck for defects and safe operating conditions before, during, and after trips, and submit a written report on the condition of the truck at the end of each trip.
• Check shipping papers to determine the nature of the load and verify product and count for accuracy. Obtain appropriate customer signatures on paperwork, and collect, verify, and responsibly deliver payments back to company where necessary.
• Secure Inventory/Payload at all times to ensure safe delivery without damage to goods or other risk of loss.
• Collect and/or secure customer payment where necessary and deliver to office
• Install and remove tire chains as required by weather conditions.
• Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations such as heavy traffic, inclement weather. Must be able to operate equipment in all types of weather and conditions. This includes going forward and backing up long distances, around corners, and in and around very tight areas.
• Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company equipment.
• Promptly report any delays due to breakdowns, weather, traffic conditions, other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to pick up or delivery of product.
• Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations including driver's record of duty status, mileage records, and other records required by law.
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal (DOT), state, and local regulations for the safe operations of a commercial motor vehicle.
• Must be able to operate a forklift and electric pallet jack to load and unload product.
• Drivers must comply with all aspects of the Christopher Ranch, LLC. Driver Regulations and Safety Program.
• This position also requires the ability to stage, pick and handle inventory according to company procedures, and to work company warehouse equipment, such as Forklift and/or Power Jack in a safe manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or other authorized personnel, and follow operational guidelines as adopted or implemented locally.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
• Must possess a valid Class B driver's license with a minimum of three years on the road experience.
• Must have previous commercial driving experience or have graduated from an accredited commercial driving school with at least one year on the road experience.
- Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
• Must have knowledge of DOT Regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance.
- Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Dept. of Transportations.
• Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, on some instances this job may require work in areas where ear and / or eye protection is necessary.

Employees will be assigned PersOnal Protection Gear such as Back Safety Belt, Leather Gloves, Safety Vest, Safety Goggles and other necessary equipment upon hire. Employees are assigned these in order to work in a safe and efficient manner. It is the responsibility of the employee to properly wear and use this equipment in order to maintain safe working conditions.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
