Streets Maintenance Operator II-III

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Street Maintenance Operator II
Perform daily maintenance to equipment and vehicles, general labor as it relates to street maintenance and construction. Perform basic skills and demonstrates basic knowledge in the operation of medium to heavy equipment in the maintenance and construction of projects within the city.

Street Maintenance Operator III
The Street Maintenance Operator III will perform skilled work in the operation of medium to heavy equipment as well as physical labor, in the repair and construction of streets, alleys and drainage systems.

HIRING RANGE:
$18.47 - $24.96/hour (DOQ)

POSITION FUNCTIONS:
Operates a variety of tools such as tampers, rollers, jackhammer, chain saws, paint equipment, street sweeper and other hand tool as well as a variety of specialized medium and heavy equipment in the repair and construction of streets and alley projects. Performs routine maintenance to trucks and equipment such as checking tire pressure and fluid levels. Is able to follow all safety policies and department standard operating procedures. Establishes good and effective working relationships with other City of employees and contractors. Additional examples of duties performed include snow removal, road construction, ditch maintenance, asphalt repairs, clean-ups, special events, road maintenance, semi-skilled concrete work and traffic control.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & CERTIFICATIONS:
Necessary:
• High school education, GED or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
o Possess or be able to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license and be able to obtain a Class B Colorado CDL with air brakes and tanker endorsements within six (6) months of employment.
o Must have a minimum of three (3) years' experience in the operation of medium to heavy equipment with the City of Glenwood Springs.

The City of Glenwood Springs is an EOE.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Must live within 50 miles from the intersection of Grand Avenue and 8th Street. Total travel time cannot exceed 60 minutes at posted driving speeds. All employees who live within 30 miles of Grand Avenue and 8th Street may drive a Public Works vehicle to their home when on-call or stand by.
