Equipment Operator
Permanent full-time Equipment Operator position $50,155 - $59,592 annually (40 Hours per week) includes benefit package. Successful completion of Civil Service Examination is required and applicants must meet all requirements set forth in the Employees Civil Service Ordinance. Pre-employment background investigation and substance abuse testing is required.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The principal duties and responsibilities of this position are the operation of heavy equipment for the maintenance of Township buildings and streets, including snow plowing, snow and ice removal, spreading and leveling dirt and gravel. Performs trench digging and backfilling, as well as loading, laying and removing various materials such as: salt, gravel and stumps. Also, this position requires the operation of sewer and catch basin cleaning, and tree cutting equipment. In addition, must make minor mechanical adjustments to equipment, occasionally performs duties of other maintenance personnel and responds to after hours emergencies as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires ability to operate a dump truck, backhoe, front end loader, sewer cleaner, vac-all truck, construction tractors and bucket truck. Must be able to work effectively alone or as a member of a team with minimal supervision and independently schedule work load and prioritize assignments, understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and be able to effectively communicate.
Education and Experience:
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Two years of field experience in service maintenance, construction and repair involving the operation of heavy equipment. Applicant must possess and maintain a valid Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (Class A) with air break endorsement. Successful completion of a Civil Service Examination is required and applicant must meet all requirements set forth in the Employees Civil Service Ordinance.
