Trucking Dispatcher
Overview
1. Summary Statement
The Dispatcher position is responsible for scheduling bulk deliveries, assisting drivers with directions, and providing customer service and logistics support with respect to fuel, heating oil and/or lubricant deliveries throughout the geographic area.

- Coordinating and administering all Gas and Fuel traffic functions relating to freight delivery. Responsible for all incoming/outgoing dispatch phone calls on a daily basis.
- Records customer orders, dispatches the order to the Drivers, provides BOL (Bill of Lading i.e. Pink Slip) to the Administrative team for further processing. Ensures customer orders are correct.
- Monitors key performance data to anticipate customer service problems, opportunities and risks.
- Coordinates deliveries and orders to keep Drivers within the daily hours allowed by the DOT (Department of Transportation).
- Assists with coordinating exemption requests with ND Petroleum Marketers Association when drivers experience long lines for loading and customer supply is exhausted.
- In the event of a fuel shortage and a blanket Driver exemption notification is provided by the State to exceed the daily hours, Dispatchers would assist with disseminating deliveries to Drivers to meet customer needs and communicates with management and the Safety Department to ensure Driver safety.
- Coordinates with Drivers to resolve any issues, problems or concerns that arise in transit or during delivery. Decides and disseminate solutions to meet and satisfy customer needs.
- Coordinates with Management, Drivers, and Customers to fulfill customer orders.
- Reports problems to supervisor in a timely and accurate manner and follow-up to ensure problem resolutions.
- Monitors GPS units on the trucks to assist in processing customer orders effectively & efficiently and use location in the event of an emergency to locate the Driver & trucks.
- Scheduling all inbound and outbound trucks daily.
- Maintains a viable relationship with truck drivers and customers to ensure needs are met at all times.
- Handles all requests, orders and complaints from customers daily. Provides accurate accident, safety and various other related reporting as required.
- Works with Marketing Department to balance schedule on all inbound movement.
- Performs and assumes other duties and responsibilities as may be required by immediate supervisor.
- On-call nights and rotating weekends as assigned.
- Tracks, monitors and orders railcars and communicate with CP for spotting and releasing railcars as applicable.
- Employee must demonstrate safe work and risk management practices.
- Communicate and enforce all safety and security issues. Report and process all employee and/or customer incidents or unsafe acts in accordance with SPF Energy’s policy and procedure.
- Ensures that confidentiality of data collected and stored are maintained.
- Employee is expected to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Employee is responsible for planning and carrying out assignments, resolving conflicts that arise, informing and coordinating with others as expected.
- Employee is accountable for insuring the technical accuracy of their work and maintaining good working relations, both internal and external to SPF Energy.

- Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations pertaining to SPF Energy Drivers.
- Knowledge of fuel, heating and oil and/or lubricant industry preferred.
- Knowledge of North Dakota area.
- Knowledge of freight rates and common carriers.
Minimum Qualifications
Essential
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
- Class A Driver’s License
