Assistant Head Mechanic

  • Must be a high school graduate, including or supplemented by course work in automotive mechanics, and 3 to 5 years of experience repairing automobiles and other motorized equipment.
  • Diesel experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid Class A CDL prior to employment.

Starting pay: $41,046.00/year.

Mechanic III

  • High school graduate, including or supplement by course work in automotive mechanics, and 3 to 5 years of experience in one of the fields: Auto Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Truck Mechanic; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Must have a valid driver's license prior to employment.

Starting Salary range: $30,883.00/year.

Transfer Truck Driver

  • Must be a high school graduate with one or more years of experience in the safe operation of a transfer truck for the purpose of transporting heavy equipment and other heavy motorized equipment.
  • General working knowledge of equipment used in the repair, mounting, rotating and balancing of tires will be a plus.
  • Must have a valid FL Class A CDL prior to employment.

Starting pay: $22,237.00/year.

Bridge Maintenance Technician I

  • Must have high school diploma or equivalent with one or more years of experience in the operation of heavy motorized equipment.
  • One or more years in the use of small equipment such as weed eaters, blowers and chain saws.
  • Two or more years of experience in the use of carpentry and concrete tools.
  • Applicant must have a Florida Class A CDL prior to being considered for the position.

Starting Salary: $24,414.00/year.

State Inmate Crew Supervisor

  • Must be a high school graduate or its equivalent, and 3 to 5 years experience in road construction or repair, including the operation of heavy motorized equipment; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Must have a valid Florida Class B CDL prior to employment.

Starting Salary: $22,237.00/year.

Equipment Operator II

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Supplemented by six (6) months experience in the operation of heavy-duty trucks and equipment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Requires a valid FL class B CDL prior to employment; may require an "N" endorsement for tanker truck dependent upon departmental assignment.

Starting Salary: $21,226.00/year.

Equipment Operator III

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Supplemented by two (2) years experience in the operation of heavy-duty trucks and equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Requires a valid class "A" driver license with air brakes; may require a "N" endorsement for tanker truck dependent upon departmental assignment.

Starting Salary: $23,299.00/year.

Equipment Operator IV

  • High school diploma or GED; and considerable experience in the operation and maintenance of heavy construction equipment.
  • Possession of a valid Florida driver license with driving record acceptable to the County Driving Policy and insurance program.
  • A comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.

Starting salary: $24,414.00/year.

EMT/Fire Fighter

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school and 1 to 2 years of experience in fire protection; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Starting salary: 31,284.80/year.

Annual Salary with guaranteed FLSA O.T. $35,152.43/year.

Special Requirements:

  • Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician by the Department of Health, Bureau of Emergency Medical Services
  • Certification in Fire Fighting Standards.
  • Certification in CPR by the American Heart Association.
  • Completion and verification of Incident Command Classes through the FEMA web site: (IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800).
  • Possession of a valid Florida's driver's license.
  • Completion and verification of a 16 hour Emergency Vehicle Operator Course completion.

Expectations:

  • Enrollment into a Paramedic program within two (2) years of date of hire and all required certifications will remain current and active – no exceptions.

Maintenance Person

  • Must be a high school graduate or its equivalent with five (5) years of experience in general building maintenance and repair. Comparable amount of training and/or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
  • Must have a valid FL driver license prior to employment. 

Starting Salary: $25,585.00/year.
