Job Description:
The Early Childhood Development Initiative (ECDI) in the college of Education and Human Services at Longwood University invites applicants for a Site Director of the Andy Taylor Center for Early Childhood Development. This full-time, 12 month position will begin January 2020.
The Site Director will be the day-to-day supervisor at the Center ensuring compliance licensure regulations and leading accreditation efforts. The Site Director will also be responsible for the hiring and evaluation of all staff, facilitating professional development, and maintaining the vision and director of the center. Additionally, the Site Director will communicate regularly with families and the community. As part of the ECDI, the Site Director will collaborate with Longwood faculty regarding curriculum and undergraduate and graduate student involvement in the Center.
Requirements:
The successful candidate is required to have an undergraduate and/or graduate degree in early childhood education or related fields. The successful candidate is required to demonstrate a deep understanding of child development and progressive approaches to early childhood education (e.g., Reggio inspired teaching). Leadership and administrative skills to manage numerous staff members required. Experience teaching children birth to age eight is preferred. Candidates with a degree and/or experience in school administration (in a school or childcare center) is preferred.

This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. Salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience.
