The mission of the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is to move people and connect places with the best transportation choices and services. MCDOT is seeking a Code Enforcement Inspector III for their Taxicab Regulations Section.
This position will be responsible for administrative and investigative work researching, analyzing, and conciliating a variety of consumer, taxicab driver, and taxicab industry issues, and complaints. This position will also conduct enforcement of the County’s Taxicab Code, and issue citations for code violations.
Major Duties:
Serving as a conduit to the public to receive and resolve complaints, and respond to the customer in a timely, and satisfactory manner; Working with the taxicab companies to improve dispatch. This position will observe operations, and work with the drivers and companies to identify problems and develop solutions to improve service. Serving as the liaison with other enforcement agencies such as police departments, Metro Transit staff, enforcement from other jurisdictions, the Secret Service, and FBI; Representing the Section at Administrative Appeal hearings and court proceedings as a witness; Issuing Taxicab Driver Identification Cards (IDs) and Passenger Vehicle Licenses as well as recommending the denial, suspension, and revocation of licenses; explaining and interpreting the code and regulations to the public, taxicab industry, and other stakeholders; Write reports and maintain detailed fact-finding records of investigations; test taxicab meters; Conduct vehicle inspections for cosmetic or safety violations; Conduct street enforcement patrols; Recommend the need and location for taxicab stands in the County. Perform related duties as required.
This position REQUIRES the possession of a valid driver's license from the applicant's state of residence and the ability to drive a County vehicle to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.
This position REQUIRES incumbent to work a flexible work schedule that may include working core work hours, as well as working flexible work hours (i.e. early morning, evening, and/or weekend work) to handle emergency situations, special events, inclement weather as well as to perform inspections, surveys, observations, etc.
