Job Description

CDL driver will be responsible for loading heavy equipment and delivering to and from job sites. Driver is responsible for checking the safety of the load, the trailer, and the truck before each haul. When no hauling is required the driver will assist the Head Mechanic with maintaining our fleet, troubleshooting, and repairing fleet equipment which includes diesel and gasoline trucks, trailers, air compressors, backhoes, forklifts, and railroad specific equipment. 

Duties:

  • Retrieve and deliver heavy equipment to job sites as needed
  • Drive and operate equipment in order to test performance (we will train if needed)
  • Assist mechanic in day-to-day activities to ensure efficient fleet operation
  • Perform various preventative maintenance tasks and inspections on all types of fleet equipment

Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 18 years old 
  • Class A CDL - Experience hauling heavy equipment
  • Welding experience a plus
  • Valid driver’s license 
  • Pre-employment and random drug and alcohol tests
  • Regular and prompt attendance 
  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • Ability to maintain a neat professional appearance 
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on light duty, heavy duty and material handling equipment
  • Ability to operate hand tools and others such as bench grinders, torch, drill press, jacks and jack stands, Sawzall, etc. as required to perform work
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, or flexible schedule as required
  • Willingness to travel if needed at offsite job locations
  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities to ensure efficient use of time
  • Ability to direct, delegate, and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment

  • Frequent bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, and overhead reaching and lifting, carrying, pushing, ad pulling of up to 50lbs.
