Director of Facility Operations
The South Windsor Board of Education is seeking applicants interested in serving as the school district’s Director of Facility Operations. The Director of Facility Operations is responsible for the operations, repairs, renovations, alterations, and preventive maintenance of all school buildings and related utility systems; and manages budget matters in the area of maintenance and custodial services.
South Windsor is a community consisting of approximately 25,000 people with 4,500 public school students. The school district is comprised of four elementary schools, one middle school, one high school, a high school annex that houses both school district and town programs and offices, and a central office administrative building. Total square footage for all district buildings will comprise 950,000 square feet located on 223 acres of land.
Primary duties and responsibilities for the Director of Facility Operations include, but are not limited to: daily oversight of building operations, budget, capital improvements, maintenance planning and operations, management of hazardous materials, community use of buildings, liaison to town staff as needed, managing contractors, preparing, analyzing and presenting of reports, building safety, bid preparation and management (RFPs), 24-hour contact for facility emergencies, ensuring adherence to building codes, high level of verbal and written communication, personnel management.

Qualifications:
- Possess a building trade license or Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of large buildings and multiple locations
- Possess a valid Connecticut driver’s license and a good driving record
- Possess excellent organizational and communication skills
- Capable of meeting the physical demands associated with the position
Compensation & Benefits:
- This is a 12-month, non-union position with a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with experience. Material due by 3:00 p.m. on October 18, 2019.
