Bus Driver Job Summary
We are seeking energetic and motivated individuals to join our transportation company as a driver for UNH Wildcat Transit. As part of our team and under general supervision from a designated supervisor, you will operate buses and vans as assigned while providing excellent customer service.
- Duties and Responsibilities
Operate buses and vans to transport passengers over established routes according to a time schedule.
Perform vehicle pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections.
Maintain statistical data for travel logs, passenger counts and fuel usage.
Monitor fare boxes.
Report hazardous road or travel conditions via two-way radio to dispatcher, as necessary.
Fuel and clean vehicle upon completion of shift, as required.
Must be able to assist passengers utilizing the wheelchair lift and equipment.
Perform related duties, as assigned.
- Requirements and Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old, possess a valid operator’s license for a minimum of 2 years, and have an acceptable driving record.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Ability to pass DOT drug & alcohol testing under all required categories (pre-placement, random, suspicion, post-accident, return to duty, and follow-up).
Ability to pass DOT physical and maintain a valid DOT medical card.
Knowledge of NH state laws governing the operation of motor vehicles, including buses and lift-equipped vehicles.
Ability to successfully complete Wildcat Transit’s extensive CDL training program and obtain a valid Class B license with air brakes and passenger endorsements.
Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public.
Physical dexterity and sufficient strength to perform duties and responsibilities of this position.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the dispatcher and the public.
